Melissa is a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Advanced VBAC Doula, Spinning Babies® trained birth professional, and Lactation Counselor through the Healthy Children Project. She lives in Kingston, NH with her husband and their two children, and feels deeply honored to walk alongside families during the transformative journey of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
With a warm, grounded presence, Melissa offers emotional, physical, and wholehearted support through birth, breastfeeding, and beyond. She is currently pursuing expert-level lactation training through the University of California, San Diego, with the goal of becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Melissa’s own experience with infertility gave her a profound appreciation for the beauty and vulnerability of the perinatal season. That personal journey inspired her to become a doula and continues to fuel her passion for helping families feel supported, heard, and empowered. Her hands-on experience helping to raise her niece and nephews has also deeply influenced her approach to caregiving.
Before becoming a doula, Melissa worked for nearly two decades as a dental hygienist, where she specialized in helping patients feel calm and comfortable. She brings that same steady, compassionate energy to every client interaction, creating a peaceful space where families can feel safe and truly cared for.
Melissa’s goal is to help each family feel confident and empowered, no matter how their birth or postpartum experience unfolds. She provides evidence-based information and consistent support, meeting each family where they are—with the care of a trusted friend and the professionalism of an experienced provider.
Outside of her work with families, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and dogs, kayaking, skiing, staying active, or curling up with a good book. She believes in living fully—and brings that same presence, joy, and heart into every family she supports.
What are clients saying…
I ended up hiring Melissa Pelletier for my labor and delivery doula.
I couldn’t recommend Melissa anymore! I was trying for and got my vbac!! Ended up with a 45 hour labor and I truly wouldn’t have made it through without her! Baby was not in a great position and everything Melissa was able to do to help me move and move him got him into a great spot. The highlight of the birth was the 25 minutes of pushing! It made everything so worth it. I really think I would have ended up back in a c section without her but I never even questioned it with her support.
I generally don’t love being touched but she knew exactly what to do for comfort measures. She was so calm and supportive. My husband was so happy she was there as well he was able to help support better just watching her and following her lead. Melissa also really helped me advocate for myself and gave ideas I could ask the nurses for as well.
If you are thinking about a doula 10000/10 recommend Melissa!!
Melissa was an incredible support during my pregnancy and successful VBAC! She was always so prepared, informed, and encouraging. It brought me so much comfort to know that she would be there during my birth, especially with the uncertainty of who my provider would be. Early on in my pregnancy, my husband wasn't sure if having a doula would be worth the expense, but after our son was born, he thanked me for convincing him otherwise. Many of the nurses commented on how wonderful Melissa was as well, and I must agree. If we ever have another baby, I know who I'm calling!
