Teresa Vittorioso-Fortin
Full-Spectrum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Placenta Specialist, Herbalist, Certified Lactation Educator
With a passion for supporting families through pregnancy and birth, Teresa began her journey in birth work in 2005 while working as a midwives’ assistant and Spanish medical interpreter at a community health center. It was there that she first witnessed the strength and resilience it takes to give birth and discovered her calling to perinatal care. This experience led her to train with DONA International and work as an on-call doula at Mount Auburn Hospital, where she provided support to non-English-speaking Latina families during childbirth.
As her passion for birth work grew, Teresa expanded her training and became certified in 2012, beginning to take private clients and eventually founding her own doula business. In addition to her doula work, she served as a Family Planning Counselor from 2010–2013, providing education in English, Spanish, and Portuguese across two community health centers. Her background has shaped her deeply inclusive, compassionate approach to care and her commitment to ensuring every family feels respected, informed, and supported.
What clients are saying…
“I genuinely feel like I got my dream birth, and I owe that entirely to Teresa. After a traumatic emergency C-section with my first birth, my goal was always to have a VBAC and Teresa helped make that dream a reality. Even when I was already far along in the process, she stepped in and guided me with so much knowledge and confidence, helping me understand that I still had options and that there were other hospitals and providers who could offer better, more supportive VBAC care. Because of her guidance, I was able to switch hospitals, find a new provider, and ultimately have the best birth experience I could have imagined.” -F.S.
“My wife and I worked with Teresa for the births of both of our sons and we can’t recommend her enough. She is a calm, steady presence and an incredibly effective advocate. I gave birth at MGH and had epidurals for both births, and Teresa fully supported our choices while helping us feel empowered and informed. She communicated clearly with hospital staff, made sure our preferences were respected, and helped us feel safe and confident throughout. She was also incredibly responsive—checking in regularly and offering support even after we came home from the hospital. If you’re looking for a doula who truly knows how to advocate and support families every step of the way, Teresa is exceptional. - M.M.
